I took inspiration from an article I read in a men’s health magazine this week. A highly qualified and experienced personal trainer was telling the story that wherever he goes, whether it be a party, a presentation, or the bus stop, the first question he is most often asked is – “when is the best time of the day to exercise”. Is it the morning, midday, after work?
His message is – the prefect time is the time that suits you. It is the time when you are most likely to actually get up and do something. Because unless you actually get out of bed, or off the couch and move, then no time is the best time.
Action beats intention every time.
I saw that played out very clearly in front of me this week at the Hamilton Island Fuji Film Triathlon. There was me behind the water station handing out water to runners of all shapes, sizes and abilities going past. I was admiring, and envious, of their commitment.
Which side of the water station am I going to be on next time …
Stop finding excuses, stop waiting for the right moment…as the t shirt says…JUST DO IT.
